Wedding Planning Quick Checklist

As a newly engaged couple, it’s completely okay and normal to feel overwhelmed! Here at CWPF, we understand how daunting it can feel to piece together an entire wedding. There are so many moving pieces to account for, and while we can’t get all of them, here’s a short check list on some of the tasks you’ll need to be on-top of as a newly engaged couple!

  1. Setting a Budget: Determining how much you can and want to spend on your wedding is one of the first and most important steps in the planning process. Creating a budget will help you plan and account for all the various costs!

  2. Choosing a Date and Venue: Selecting a wedding date and finding the perfect venue can be a daunting task. Availability, budget, and personal preferences all come into play.

  3. Guest List and Invitations: Deciding who to invite and managing the guest list can be a delicate and sometimes challenging process! Don’t forget about plus ones! Are you planning to send both Save the Date’s and Invitations? Either way, be sure to send them ASAP after booking your date and venue!

  4. Creating a Registry: It can feel weird, but creating a registry allows friends and family to contribute towards something that will actually be useful or meaningful, rather than having to guess. If you don’t need a traditional wedding registry, you could also create a “Honeymoon Registry” that gives your friends and family the option to contribute towards specific excursions or activities on your honeymoon, or towards a honeymoon in general!

  5. Vendors and Service Providers: Researching, interviewing, and hiring vendors such as caterers, photographers, florists, and DJs can be overwhelming. Couples may need help finding trustworthy professionals within their budget. Here at CWPF, we have worked with many vendors across the industry and are happy to share our recommendations!

  6. Wedding Theme and Style: Determining the overall theme, color scheme, and style of the wedding is crucial to ensure a cohesive and visually appealing event that brings your vision to life! This includes your florals, too!

  7. Wedding Attire: Shopping for wedding attire, including the bridal gown, bridesmaids' dresses, groom's attire, and groomsmen's outfits, can be a time-consuming process! Be sure to get a jump start on this to allow ample time for alterations!

  8. Honeymoon Planning: Planning the honeymoon, including travel arrangements and accommodations, is another important task! If you’re choosing to travel abroad, be sure to look into any travel requirements in your destination country. If you’re traveling domestically, have a plan for your route and what you’re planning to do! If you’re not traveling, be sure to still take time and celebrate each other. You deserve it.

  9. Wedding Timeline: Creating a detailed timeline that outlines the schedule for the day and coordinates all the moving parts is crucial for a smooth wedding.

  10. Wedding Favors and Gifts: Selecting meaningful wedding favors for guests and gifts for the wedding party can be an important aspect of planning. Although not a requirement, it’s certainly a nice touch.

  11. Marriage License and Legalities: Be sure to complete all the necessary legal requirements, such as obtaining a marriage license.

  12. RSVP Management: Keeping track of RSVPs and ensuring guests respond in a timely manner can be challenging.

  13. Day-Of Coordination: Many couples benefit from hiring a wedding coordinator or planner to ensure that the day goes smoothly, allowing them to relax and enjoy their wedding! The last thing you’ll want to do on your wedding day is worry about coordinating your own celebration!
